Red Star Restaurant (红星酒家)
In Red Star Restaurant, thou should find that nostalgic feeling of being in an authentic yum cha house, with the waitresses pushing the dim sum carts around the place, filling the place with vibrant vibes and whiffs of dim sum. Ah, how enjoyable!
Advisable to reach early as it will be quite packed around 11am. Total bill is around $93 for 4 of us. Kinda of expensive as we did not order a lot.
Worth giving it a try as you seldom find such a traditional dim sum place in singapore anymore.

Sizzler @ Toa Payoh
Tried their quick lunch deals which have the all-u-can-eat salad bar. There were cold cuts of ham and Cold Pasta salads with respective seafoods such as "Crabmeat Sticks Pasta", "Pasta with Shrimp" and "Pasta with Salmon".
Soups were really creamy. Love their yohurt ice cream as well.

Soup Spoon
Today has 10% discount due to Woman's Day in Soup Spoon
My favourite soup: Tokyo Chicken Stew
Simple and authentic, the marinated chicken is simmered in a broth of sake and mirin with an assortment of oriental vegetables like lotus roots, shitake, enoki mushroom, white radish, bamboo shoots making this a hearty and well balanced meal.

Sakon Thai @ Serangoon North Ave 1
A neighbourhood Thai restaurant without any GST & service charge. Always very crowded on weekend.
I love their pineapple rice & tom yam soup. Rice portion is quite big, can be shared between two people.
